Just Between Friends

Or as some would call it JBF. It starts tomorrow!!!!! It goes from the 18th through the 21st. I am so excited for the sale that I almost can't contain it!!!! I am going right when it opens. It's a big consignment sale at the Puyallup fair grounds for babies, and toddlers. Mothers rent a booth and sell their used children’s clothing. I have so many things that Elizabeth needs, the biggest one being a coat for this winter. Will any of you be going??? And would you like me to do a post on what I find???  I have also been living at goodwill, and used clothing stores. Would you all like me to do outfits of the day with stuff from used clothing stores??? Or maybe hauls??? Is this something people like, because I have not seen it done, but I always like to see the deals ppl get.

Other things we have planned,

The Spooners pumpkin patch

Hopefully signing up for  MOPS

Planning a 1st birthday party fit for a princess!

Cute Free Crochet Pattern that is EASY!!!!

This is a picture of my daughter with a hat that I made from a pattern on Pinterest. I know that a lot of times we see these REALLY cute babies on their modeling a cute hat, and think hmmmm..... I CAN MAKE THAT! But in reality the patterns are hard. Whether they are written in some other language, or the person is an expert, so they don't know how to make it easy for beginners or whatever the reason is, we just can't seem to figure it out. When I first started with crochet I had to have videos. So if you are like me and normally need a video, or someone to show you. I think this would be a good first pattern to transition into written patterns!

This is such a cute hat for transitioning into fall! It is a little airy, but warm for the bald babies like mine. You can add any flower on the hat or leave it like I have done. My girl wants to take hats off, and flowers just give her something to grab, and tear off lol. Here is the picture of the baby/hat that inspired me!

My daughter Has the one in 3-6 month not newborn so there will be differences, also the hat she is wearing has been washed (more than once, yes it made it through the washer, AND the dryer). Anyways here is the link, and I hope you have lots of fun!!!!

Owl Pillow/Stuffed Animal

Isn't this little gal just cute to boot? I made this girl within two days. Mind you I have a nine month old crawling around me, a full time job, and a husband screaming at the TV ( It's football season), So needless to say in real ppl time I would venture 3 hours time. I started with a big piece of cardboard, and made the shape ( you only have to make half the shape, because you can trace half, and then flip it over to trace the other half that way the sides match up), you can make yours fat or skinny, tall, or short, the sky is your limit!!! Then find some fabric to make your owl. I found mine at the clearance aisle at JOANN'S I bought 1 yard, because I will find something to do with the rest of the fabric...feel free to take your owl shape in, the people are always so helpful!!! If they are a crafter they love to answer questions...I know I do!

This is my left over stuff because I didn't think to add a tutorial until after I was done with the project. Don't you just love that lol? List of items needed

1.      Enough fabric for your owl (remember you need two cut outs)

2.      Felt I used four colors Pink, Purple, Brown, and Black (I wish I had bought yellow, but I forgot, so I used yellow fabric I had on hand), I only bought one sheet of each.

3.      Floss, I don't know if that’s what crafters call it? It is the string that is in the little packets I have a bunch that I bought in a big bag at goodwill, but if you want you can just buy one in white or black, maybe even brown. Because I have so many colors I used colors that POP, On the pink felt I used Purple, on the Purple I used pink, and so on.....

4.      Needle

5.      Sewing machine

6.      Matching thread

7.      Pillow stuffing

8.      Circular items to measure the eyes

9.      Scissors

So you start by tracing your owl with the cardboard, and then cut it. After both owl shapes are cut out you put the pretty sides facing together, pin them together sew them together leaving a quarter in seam allowance, I used a sewing machine, but you can use a string and needle if you would like. Do not sew the butt. Leave a BIG hole so that you can turn it inside out and hand stitch on the inside. After you are done with that turn it right side out. Make sure to poke the ears out (a chopstick can help). I then cut the felt, do a big U for the chest with the black felt, and I made 9 "feathers" for her chest. For the feathers I once again used cardboard, and made a cut out, then traced 9 on the brown felt, and cut it out. for the eyes I wanted them to be perfect so here is what I used.

Three different circle shapes that can go inside each other after being cut. I know not all of you have all of these, but use your imagination, and find things in your house to trace. After tracing two of the big one in the brown, two of the middle in the purple, and two of the small in the pink, you are done with circles!!!! I then just cut out a small triangle for the beak. Now begins the fun part hand stitching to make it look pretty. This is where all the floss comes in handy!!! I started with the eyes and worked from smallest to biggest. As you can see I used bigger stitches to show off that it is hand stitched. I only used two strings from the floss at a time.

After I did the eyes I then did the feathers on the chest. I pinned them where I wanted them and proceeded to hand stitch them. After I was done with that I pinned the chest and eyes where I wanted them on the body, then had stitched them to the owl, Remember you can use whatever colors of floss you like! After those were all secured, and on the owl you can pin the beak on, and hand stich it!!! Next add pillow stuffing I didn't add too much because I wanted this to be a pillow on my daughter’s bed. When you are done you can hand stitch the bottom of your owl up...Take a step back and say WHEW that is cute to boot!

May Birchbox

I think this month I really got my money’s worth. They have a lot of samples, and I can’t wait to try them all. I also didn’t expect it to come so soon. I tracked it on UPS, and they said not until the 14th, but when I opened the mailbox there it was all pretty, and waiting to be opened by me! I will probably say this over and over in the post’s to come, but receiving a package in the mail is like Christmas to me. Always has been, and I really don’t foresee that ever changing. That is why I signed up for Birchbox, it’s inexpensive, and every month I can get a little bit of Christmas. So let’s get this started. First thing I see when I open it up is a little green paper explaining that this is a gossip girl themed box, and that you should watch the season finally on May 14th at 8 pm on the CW. I have seen this show many a times, but as a mother I don’t really watch it anymore, because when I am not watching kid’s shows or husband sports, this is not what I would choose. I loved it as a single woman, and I am sure that if I was still single, and not a mother, I would spend the time it takes to watch it.

Anywho on the back of the paper is the explanation of all the products you are getting. I got Algenist Regenerative Anti-Aging Moisturizer, Color Club Nail Polish in Clambake Coral, Kerastase Cristalliste Lumiere liquid, Miracle Skin Transformer Body SPF 20 in Glow, Extras, Kerastase Cristalliste Bain Cristal, Kerastase Cristalliste Lait Cristal, Notecard.

Algenist, Regenerative Anti-Aging Moisturizer Looking your age is so overrated. This sophisticated moisturizer uses an exclusive microalgae compound to delay the cellular aging process. Full size $90. Ok so I have to say this is a pretty good sized sample it is 15ml. Which I think is about a month or so of anti-aging lotion if you really make it last. The smell is very similar to Revlon Colorstay foundation. Which for some reason I feel like it smells of coffee just a little bit. I love the smell even though a lot of ppl don’t.  It goes on my hand really smooth, and the smell doesn’t stick with you for too long.

Color Club, Nail Polish in Clambake Coral Just in time for summer, this warm coral will set off your newly (self-) tanned skin. Full size $8. I love getting nail polishes! I spend a lot on nail polish throughout the year, and when I get one like this I feel like it is one less that I have to buyJ The color is really cute, and by chance totally matches the shirt I am wearing today!!! Got to love coral for a spring time look! I haven’t tried this brand yet, but I know that here within the next couple days I will find time to do my nails this color. Let me know if you want to know how it compares to other nail polishes.

Kerastase, Cristalliste Lumiere Liquide Smooth this lightweight, fragrant serum through dry strands to add gorgeous shine. Full size $42. As for the shampoo, and conditioner I am not going to tell you about those, because I don’t think they are anything special yet, because I am not going to open them today to wash my hair, since it doesn’t need it. As for the serum it is very fragrant, and feels like any other oil.  I think it smells of spring time flowers. I love to use stuff like this that I can pair with a spring time perfume! I will put it in my hair today before work to smooth any fly aways.

Miracle Skin Transformer Body SPF 20 in Glow Don’t settle for anything but flawless skin-all over your body. This tinted treatment erases blemishes and scars on arms, and legs. Full size $34. I am not very happy with this oneL I don’t think it smells very good, and the fact that it has little glitter in it makes me very weary. How can something with glitter cover a blemish? Wouldn’t that attract attention to said area? IDK I am not an expert, but I don’t think I will be trying this one anytime soon.

Notecard, Text messages are no match for handwritten notes on fun, modern stationary.  Set of 12, $10. I love this it is very cute! I love to send snail mail. I think that there is nothing more personal than your own handwriting.  Can’t wait to send it to my sister.

I hope you all liked this and let me know if you have any questions
xoxo

Cinco De Mayo makeup

I decided to get a little crazy with my makeup this holiday. Normally I do my makeup for the holidays but a lot more subtle. This year I wanted to make my eyes POP! I used my BH Cosmetics 88 Tropical Palate.

When I did this I knew that I needed really bright, and vibrant colors. I started off priming my lids with Urban Decay Primer Potion, I then used my NYX jumbo pencil in milk all over my lid to give my three colors an extra POP! I then started with this wonderful matte yellow on my inner eyelid.

Once again I only used it on my inner eyelid and the inner part of my under eye. I then used this frosted orange on the rest of my lid and on the middle of my under eye.

The orange is almost a bronze orange. I moved on to a very bright matte green for the outer v of the eye. I focused it in my crease, and then blended it outward.

I then used an eye shadow that is close to the color of my skin to highlight my brow and to finish blending any harsh lines from the green. Let me know how you liked the look?

Just a little rant

Having a baby and being able to do my makeup the way I like is NEVER going to happen. I love my daughter, and I choose her over makeup ANY day, but geez how come she doesn’t like watching me do my makeup? LOL  I hope it means that she will not like makeup like me, because let’s face it, this is an addiction! Now picture this me with a squirming 5 month old in my lap grabbing the eyeliner out of my hand as I am trying to put it on my face with one very unsteady hand….I will say this much it does not end well. So what have I done to remedy this problem? I have had to learn to say to myself “it’s ok if you don’t have eyeliner, or lipstick! You look fine without your eyebrows drawn on”.  Of course is this every day that I am missing these things that I consider to be a vital part of my face? No, and generally I am only missing one or two, but this is a huge step for a perfectionist!!! I used to be able to sit in front of the mirror for two hours if I wanted, and at times I would be late for work just to have really good makeup! Now it is so different, unless my husband is there to watch her I have to be quick because she does not like sitting by herself, and for some reason she knows that when I get ready I am about to leave her, so she throws fits….grrrr can anything be easy??? I know it will get easier as she gets older, but I think I am fine with learning to take things easy, and to put someone else ahead of myself<3

Frugally yours

So I love to shop! I love it even more if I get a really good deal! The problem is that sometimes I don’t know if I am actually getting a deal or if I am really being ripped off, or sold something that nobody wants. I love Goodwill, and Value village they have got to be two of my fav places to shop. I know I run a risk shopping there that when I get home my stuff may have a stain, and or a tear, so is it worth it? I love shopping for kid’s toys and clothes because they don’t go out of fashion and even if they have a stain you can still let them wear, and or play with it because they are going to stain it anyways. I wonder should I save, and buy one or two clothing items every once in a while at regular price or should I keep doing what I am doing? I feel as if I can never keep up with the fashion. That I am buying stuff right as it’s going out of style. Is it just me or am I crazy? Maybe it is just taking longer for me to know when something is in fashion. I also feel that when I buy at the cheaper places my stuff just falls apart. I won’t name stores because they are ones we all love to find cheap clothes at, but I wonder would my money be better spent by buying a couple things at full price? And what would I do with all that time that I am normally spending looking for a good deal? Maybe use the things I buy…hmmm now that would be something different. So is saving a couple nickels worth wasting a whole day? You tell me. J
